Welcome to the website of the Institute for Network Stimulation - located at the Faculty of Medicine in Cologne.
We are a scientific group with interests in neuroimaging, method development, movement disorders and invasive brain stimulation.
The aim of our research is to analyze and modulate brain networks in order to improve the clinical treatment of neurological and psychiatric brain diseases. The primary tools we use to pursue these goals are structural imaging and non-invasive connectivity measurements derived from functional and diffusion-weighted MRI.
We want to improve the treatment of patients with neurological and psychiatric symptoms. To this end, we use causal sources of information, such as brain lesions and neuromodulatory interventions, to identify brain circuits that may exhibit dysfunctional brain activity in the context of a specific disease and subsequently lead to neurological or psychiatric symptoms.
